sidhfnlskdklfhsdlkfhlsdkjflksdjklfdskljskld HI GUYS

so idk when i decided i wanted my last pic of the year to be a remake of something old, but i did it. it's done.

tbh, i did this to like. give me new perspective on my own art. bc the last time i remade this pic was in 2014, and i seriously needed to prove to myself that i've grown as an artist since then

this year has been.................... rough, to say the least

my artistic drive has been suffering for a long time. i've been comparing myself to other artists in all of the most detrimental ways, and have been constantly grasping for validation from others to make me feel like my art is worth something. i took one of my favorite things to do and let everything i loved about it start to rot from the inside out

so now, im looking at all of my insecurities and doubt and saying: FUCK THAT

so this year, im going to try my hardest to draw whatever i feel like drawing, whenever i feel like drawing, regardless of whether it gets attention or how it turns out. bc how can i expect to get to the level of skill i want if i don't try to expand my horizons?

bc im growing! even if it doesn't feel obvious to me all of the time, i really am!! and it's ok if my growth is slow, bc that doesn't mean it's not happening!!!!!!!!!

so ANYWAY, thanks for coming to my TED talk-

but seriously tho if any of this resonates w/ u guys, and if you've also had a weird/bad year for art this year, just know that im right there w/ u and i know that art block like this is so hard to deal w/ but i believe in u!! let's welcome this fresh start and get over this creative block together! \o/
